Sinulog 2013

27 Jan

My main goal this year was to enjoy the festival without getting too drunk to remember anything. Thankfully, I was able to fulfill that. The weekend was everything I hoped for and even more.

I jumpstarted the celebration with joining the annual Lifedance Party at the Boardwalk in North Reclamation Area. I wasn’t really familiar with the DJs that were playing that night, nonetheless, that didn’t stop me from enjoying myself. I jumped and danced and partied with the rest of the crowd. It was a great night of friends, dancing and music. 🙂

As we call it locally, the “disperas” or the eve of the festival is one celebration that you should also be a part of if you wish to fully experience Sinulog. Mine was greatly defined by the huge and booze-filled party at Distillery in Crossroads, Banilad. Our 10k worth of drinks spiced up the night. Everyone was crazy drunk by 3am, so we had to leave and tuck-in our unfortunate friends. 🙂

SINULOG Day. Finally, the long wait was over. After two days of literally having close to no sleep, the main celebration has finally come. Unlike the previous Sinulog celebrations, this time I wasn’t on the streets at an early hour. I was still recovering from a slight hangover. This made me leave the house at almost lunch time. It was my brother’s first time to experience the festival, so I made sure that he enjoyed — and he did. 😀

The main highlight of the festival for me would be the crazy party at Mango area. Wild people from all walks of life would all gather in two of the most popular Sinulog party places: Baseline and Century Plaza. Get free hugs and kisses by half-naked men, get showered with beer and other drinks, get painted on and dance till you drop on tabletops and chairs. 🙂
